Front Of House

Our Front of House team is at the heart of Yoga Union. They're the friendly faces who greet you when you arrive, offer guidance when you need it, and help create the warm, welcoming energy that makes our studio feel like home. Whether you're checking in for class, exploring the boutique, or just stopping in to say hello, they’re here to support your experience from the moment you walk through the door.

Their care and presence help hold the space where connection, growth, and community begin.

Vanessa

Vanessa is passionate about health and wellness, striving to live a balanced lifestyle. She brings her positive attitude and compassion to the front desk at Yoga Union. She is currently completing a Bachelors of Science degree at UBC, and aspires to enter the medical field. Yoga has become an integral component of Vanessa’s life, offering her grounding and clarity throughout her academic journey. She is drawn to Yoga Union for its positive environment and the strong sense of community it fosters. Outside of the front desk, Vanessa enjoys attending yoga and barre classes, shopping, volunteering and spending time with family.

Sophia

Sophia was introduced to yoga in high school as part of her PE credits, but it quickly became her favorite part of the day. Yoga offered her a space to reconnect with herself and the world around her.

She continued practicing at her own pace for six years, and during that time, she realized how much yoga had become a vital part of her life. Having experience in customer service and the health industry, she’s always known she wanted to help others. Whether it's physically, mentally, or emotionally and yoga has given her the tools to do so. Having a small part in someone’s healing journey has become something she deeply valued.

In December 2024, Sophia completed her 240-hour Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at the Vancouver School of Healing Arts. From her first class at Yoga Union, Sophia felt the love and energy of the staff and students. More than a studio, it felt like family—and she knew right away it was where she wanted to be.

Megan

Megan is an Assistant Marketing Manager at Meridian Farm Market and a passionate member of the Yoga Union community. She first discovered yoga after learning about its benefits for pregnancy and the importance of building a practice early. As an avid weightlifter, Megan also appreciates how yoga helps prevent injuries and improves overall strength and mobility. She loves working at Yoga Union because of the incredible sense of community and connection it brings. Outside of the studio, you can find her gardening, cooking, and staying active.

Alena

Alena was introduced to hot yoga by her avidly practicing mother, and was initially intrigued by the transformative power that the 26 & 2 series had on many people close to her. Scared off by the heat, humidity, and discomfort, she swore off yoga entirely and focused on other activities. Over a decade later, she gave hot yoga another chance at Yoga Union where she felt deeply supported and connected to the community. After only a couple of weeks of consistent practice, she started to notice improvements in all areas of her life, especially mental clarity. Alena felt particularly drawn to the atmosphere of Yoga Union, where she feels confident that everyone can come as they are, without judgment or criticism, and be encouraged to take the best care of themselves. When Alena is not practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time outdoors, creating abstract art, and solving jigsaw puzzles with her friends!
