It’s so hard to describe my yoga journey in words. It first started with the birth of my second child and a tough journey out of a postpartum funk in my mid-30s. A friend took me to one of her hot yoga, Bikram classes and WOW - what a trip! I’d never experienced such a challenge in all my years of professional dance, high-level soccer, motherhood and life in general. It’s was a test of mind and body...watching all the mental and physical strength in that room was mind-blowing. I needed more, I was hooked!

My past teaching experiences in all genres of dance and fitness helped me take the plunge in February of 2019 to get my Yoga Teacher Training certification. What I’ve learned along the way is unexplainable in words and every day I continue the journey. If only I knew about it all in my teens and 20s. But part of the learning comes with being ready to accept what’s being offered. Ready to be vulnerable, ready to love and accept me with all the flaws, warts and weaknesses. Ready to celebrate all of it, be kind to me, and let the unnecessary stuff go!! Compassion for myself is a constant struggle, but I remind myself daily that I’m human. That I have all I need deep inside me and that letting go of expectations allows for the transformation to happen.

This is what I now want to share with my fellow yogis as I guide classes, through breath, sweat, sometimes tears and hopefully some laughter. Our Yoga Union community is the best gift I’ve ever had, to be part of this team and family! Come join us on this crazy journey. Maybe you’ll get hooked like me!
